Joint Bands Concert

The Augustana Symphonic Band and Augustana Concert Band will showcase the the spring 2018 Wind Conducting Class.

As the assignment for the class, each student chooses a band composition, rehearses the piece throughout the spring term, and then conducts that piece at the joint concert as well as prelude music for the Commencement ceremony.

This year’s students and the pieces they will be conducting:

Lexie Aguilar, conducting “Journey through Orion”  by Julie Giroux.  Aguilar is a junior music performance and french major from LeClaire, Iowa.

Douglas Ganster, conducting “Havendance” by David Holsinger. Ganster is a junior music composition and business administration and management major from Braidwood, Ill.

Becky Hobson, conducting “Bayou Breakdown” by Brandt Karrick. Hobson  is a junior music performance and pre-occupational therapy major from Hartland, Wis.

Kellen Myers, conducting “Tempered Steel” by Charles Young. Myers is a junior music composition major from Davenport, Iowa.

Andre Rivera, conducting “Festal Scenes” by Yasuhide Ito. Rivera is a junior music education major from Antioch, Ill.

Caitlin Thom, conducting “Danish Folk Music” by Percy Grainger. Thom is a senior music performance major from Bettendorf, Iowa.
