Mindfuel tops Business Plan Competition

A team of three students with the idea for a student counseling app called Mindfuel won the 2018 Rogers Business Plan Competition.

This is the second competition sponsored by the Department of Business Administration, held on May 3.The Howard and Helen Rogers Entrepreneurial Endowment provided $15,000 for prizes first-, second- and third-place teams.

Thirteen plans were entered and the top five presented their plans before a group of business professionals. Each team had 10 minutes to present its business idea, followed by a 10-minute question-and-answer session.

First place won $8,000, second $4,000 and the remaining teams all received $1,000 each.

Those taking home the prizes were:

First place – Thao Chu, Thuy Trang Le and Mai Nguyen: MindFuel.

The three seniors are all from Vietnam. Chu majored in international business, accounting and business administration/finance. Le majored in accounting and business administration/marketing, and Nguyen in accounting, economics and business administration/finance.

Second place – Brendan Vorobiev, VisorShield. 

Vorobiev is a senior from Ann Arbor, Mich., majoring in business administration/management and economics.

Third place –  Michael Smiles, JP Martinez and Christopher Wilson: Peel.

Smiles is a senior from Plainfield, Ill., majoring in business administration/marketing and business administration/management.

Martinez is a senior from Coal Valley, Ill., majoring in business administration/marketing and business administration/finance.

Wilson is a senior from Bradford on Tone, Somerset, England, majoring in business administration/management and business administration/marketing.

Third place –  Lauren Cummings, Ethan Ehlers and McKay Potter, Beer Made Brewtiful.

Cummings is a senior from Roseville, Minn., majoring in business administration/management  and communication studies.

Ehlers is a senior from Kenosha, Wis., majoring in business administration/management.

Potter is a senior from Hudson, Wis., majoring in business administration/management and business administration/marketing.

Third place – An Nguyen Dang, LocalHobby.

Dang is a senior from Hanoi, Vietnam, majoring in business administration/management and business administration/management information systems.
