Rogers has served the college since 2015, first as assistant director of multicultural student life, and more recently as interim director of multicultural student life.

After graduating from Augustana, Rogers pursued a master’s degree in higher education and student affairs at Western Illinois University. While at WIU, he coordinated leadership programs and student success initiatives on campus. Upon completion of his degree, he worked at the Milwaukee Rescue Mission as a case manager.

Dr. Monica Smith, vice president of diversity, equity and inclusion at Augustana, also announced that the Office of Multicultural Student Life will operate under a different name: Office of Student Inclusion and Diversity.

"The new name was selected to better reflect the college’s goals and to create a stronger connection with my office, Office of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion," she said.

She will host a reception from 3-4:30 p.m. on Wednesday, May 9, on the fourth floor of the Gerber Center, near the Office of Student Inclusion and Diversity to recognize Michael Rogers for his work and service to Augustana.
