Residential Life staff and services

Community hosts

Community hosts staff our hall desks. They promote a healthy community by welcoming people as they enter the buildings and facilitating activities to engage residents at the desks.

They also provide a variety of services to residents, including:

  • Check-out of a variety of equipment and supplies
  • Emergency assistance
  • Campus directory assistance
  • General information and assistance regarding your hall or campus life
  • Overnight registration of non-Augustana students (guests must furnish identification)

Community advisors

A community advisor (CA) resides on every residence hall floor and throughout the TLAs. Your CA is your link to Augustana. CAs can provide the following services:

  • Coordination of activities
  • Emergency assistance
  • Enforcement of college rules and regulations
  • Lock-out service (fees apply)
  • Mediation of roommate or community conflicts
  • Peer counseling
  • Referral to campus resources

Resident directors

Resident directors (RD) are part-time professionals trained to manage individual residence halls.

Area coordinators

Area coordinators (AC) are full-time masters-level staff members who provide overall supervision of each residential area. You can schedule an appointment to see your AC via email or by calling their office extension.

Central office staff

The Office of Residential Life is located in the west wing of Andreen Hall at 960 38th St. The director of residential life is responsible for the overall supervision of the department. The assistant director provides a variety of administrative tasks including housing placements, coordinating medical accommodations, and related issues.
