Vikings crack top 25 in D3hoops.com poll

Nine wins in its first 10 games have vaulted coach Grey Giovanine's Augustana basketball team into the latest D3hoops.com Top 25. The Vikings, who received votes in the pre-season and first three weekly polls, debut this week at number 22.
Despite having freshmen and sophomores log over 80 percent of the teams minutes this season, Augustana is off to a 9-1 start, with its only loss coming on the road to fifth-ranked Wisconsin-Stevens Point. The Vikings wrap up the non-conference portion of their schedule on Thursday, December 20, hosting Loras in a 7:30 p.m. contest at Carver Center.
The program's appearance in this week's Top 25 is its 100th since the start of the 2000-01 season. The Vikings have been ranked (29 times) or received votes (six times) in 35 consecutive polls dating back to the 2010-11 pre-season rankings.
Augustana is one of four College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin teams in this week's Top 25. Conference favorite North Central is off to a 9-0 start and ranked third, with one first-place vote. Wheaton (10-1) sits at 14th and Illinois Wesleyan (6-2) is number 17.
