Emerge

About the Emerge program

Emerge is Augustana's premier leadership and development experience for new students. It is designed to assist you in becoming an influential leader, to encourage you to identify and utilize your personal strengths, and to help you learn more about campus life. This fast paced training program teaches everything from understanding yourself and others to develop good communication skills that will help you reach your leadership goals at Augustana and beyond.

EMERGE is a must for future campus leaders. Currently, most student leaders on campus were participants of the program in their first year at Augustana. By participating, you can connect with them, find out information about different organizations on campus, and possibly get on track to becoming an organizational leader in the future.

If you have any questions or want some more information, please contact Shannon Slick or Alex Odenkirk

The Program

  • Eight two-hour sessions on Monday nights during the fall term
  • Peer Groups of 8-12 participants with an upperclassman leader
  • Each participant will help with a community service day project in the Quad Cities
  • Attendance required for participants who wish to complete the program
  • Students receive a Certificate of Leadership from OSA upon the completion of program
  • Registration forms (with $40 fee) must be mailed prior to arriving on campus

What do participants think?

"The Emerge program was a great opportunity for meeting new people that were as outgoing as I was. At the same time, the program offered a lot of leadership presentations that really gave me a new perspective on leading and team work. I highly recommend Emerge." John Cairns ‘12

"Participating in Emerge helped me to recognize and develop my own leadership style while working with different people in small groups. By far, Emerge has been one of my fondest experiences at Augustana." Clare Kilbride ‘13

"I loved getting to know the nitty-gritty details of becoming a leader. Learning how to become more efficient and aware of the type of people I could be working with is something that has really stuck with me." Destany Metcalf ‘14

"Emerge helped me to better understand myself so that I could better understand others. As a leader, that makes all the difference in the world." Nik Maggos ‘13
