2012-13 WOMEN'S SWIMMING & DIVING REVIEW

For the third straight season, Augustana junior Helen Myers won both the one and three-meter diving titles at this year's CCIW Women's Swimming & Diving Championships. Myers' performance helped Coach Scott Johannsen's Vikings take fourth place in the team standings. The team went 3-3 in dual meets in 2012-13 and broke seven school records, five of which involved junior Hillary Ferguson.

Sophomore Jamie Graf broke the individual school record in the 200 breaststroke, senior Hillary Ferguson took down a legendary name in the 100 freestyle and the 400 freestyle relay team also set a new school mark in the final day of competition for Augustana at the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin Championships on Saturday, February 16 in Wheaton, Illinois. Graf eclipsed a record that was 23 years old and Ferguson broke a record held by former NCAA champion Julie Konchan while the 400 freestyle record's ink had been on the page for just a year.

Two Viking relay teams break school records

Augustana's 200 medley and 800 freestyle relays each set school records Friday at the CCIW Championships. The 800 freestyle was third and the 200 medley took fourth to help the Vikings remain third in the team standings heading into the final day of competition Saturday.

Clennon, Ferguson break school marks at CCIW meet

Senior Molly Clennon and junior Hillary Ferguson both set school records Thursday, helping Augustana to third place in the team standings after the first day of swimming at the CCIW Championships. Ferguson took down Julie Konchan's 23-year old 50 freestyle mark (:24.16) with a :24.02 in the preliminaries. Clennon finished the 500 freestyle in 5:16.45 to better Megan Lonergan's record of 5:17.94 set in 2009.

Last Saturday, Augustana junior Helen Myers won the one and three meter diving events at the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin Championships for the third year in a row. Today, Myers was named the CCIW's "Athlete of the Week" in women's swimming & diving for her work on Saturday.
