Programming for Faculty Development
Faculty Development Programming
The Augustana Center for Teaching & Learning (ACTL) provides many opportunities for faculty to improve their teaching and their students' learning. On-going programming throughout the year is planned largely in response to a Faculty Needs Assessment survey administered every year just prior to the start of classes. While some themes change from year to year, ACTL activities include
- Teaching observation groups
- Training for the use and interpretation of the IDEA Center Student Rating of Instruction
- Learning ePortfolio initiative
- Blended Learning initiative
- ACTL reading groups (currently Ken Bain's What the Best College Teachers Do)
- Curriculum mapping workshops
- Diversity in the classroom
- Reflection in the classroom and in the major
- Active learning techniques
- Scholarship of Teaching & Learning interest group
- Improving student research skills
- Promoting student success--faculty support for Student Services
