CVR Award Information
The Center for Vocational Reflection is partnering with the Celebration of Learning to offer a $250 award for the finest reflective essay submitted in conjunction with an entry in the Celebration of Learning 2013.
Reflections will address the following question:
“Ten years from now, you are interviewing for a job; the interviewer asks you to describe an academic achievement that left you feeling personally fulfilled. You decide to describe the learning and research experience that culminated in your submission to the Celebration of Learning as your example. Please respond to the interviewer’s follow-up questions: Which of your talents, skills, or characteristics did this project highlight or develop? What personal interests or passions did you get to explore? What impact did this have on your community(ies) or others? What did you learn about who you are called to be?”
Essays will be judged on depth of reflection, writing style, and attention to each part of the question. Essays should be no longer than 750 words. Students submitting traditional research or other projects registered in the Celebration of Learning, as well as students presenting studio art exhibits during the Celebration of Learning, all are eligible to submit an essay.
Essays may be submitted to the Center for Vocational Reflection in Sorensen Hall 140 or sent via email to Dr. Ryan J. White.
The deadline for submission is noon on Thursday, April 18, 2013.
Awards will be given during the opening remarks at the Celebration of Learning on Saturday, May 4, 2013.
