Three Perfections: Chinese Painting, Poetry and Calligraphy

Dr. Jen-mei Ma earned her B.A. in Fu-jen, Taiwan and her M.A., M.Ph., Ph.D., in Kansas. She currently is the department Chair and a Professor in the Asian Languages Department at Augustana College, where she teaches Asian Art, Three Perfections for Asian Sequence, and all levels of Chinese. During Asian term she also teaches Drawing in China and Chinese Literati Art.

She taught all levels of Chinese at University of Kansas and at Middlebury College. While at Middlebury College, she also taught Chinese Poetry in Translation, Asian Art, Masterpieces of Chinese Painting, Masterpieces of Japanese Painting and Chinese Ink Painting. She was also President of Chinese Summer School at Indiana University.

Program dates: June 23-24, 2013

Program cost: $150

Includes lodging, all meals and any field trips. Students arrive on campus Sunday, June 23 and depart Monday, June 24.

Course description

In this course, you will explore the wonder of Chinese literati art and obtain hands-on experience on the three unique art forms: painting, poetry and calligraphy.
