The Matt and Mindy McSparin Sports Business Internship Award provides support for interns of any major who want to explore the sports business industry.
A stipend will be awarded for an unpaid (or minimally paid) internship for an aspiring student of any major to explore the sports business industry as a future career.
The recipient must provide information and written documentation about the internship and career progress to Matt and Mindy McSparin and to the committee that evaluates the applications. A final reflective paper is due at the conclusion of the internship.
Applications are due by 4:30 p.m. April 3.
Applicants should have an overall GPA of 3.0/4.0 and be a junior or above (60+ credits at beginning of internship). Applicants must be enrolled as a full-time student.
Full-time placements considered include professional, collegiate or amateur sports organizations (not high school); sport event management or marketing or a related field; sports management, sports agent, or sports marketing agency or a related field.
The internship placement must be within continental U.S.
The Matt and Mindy McSparin Sports Business Internship Award will provide support for interns of any major who want to explore the sports business industry. The award was established by Matt ’84 and Mindy McSparin, in appreciation of Matt’s education at Augustana. Through the Augustana internship program, Matt secured a position with the Chicago White Sox that led to full-time employment and launched his 30-year sports career.
