Student Life Programming Board taking applications

The Student Life Programming Board is taking applications for membership for the 2018-2019 school year.

Applications are due by 5 p.m. Jan. 25 at the reception desk in the Office of Student Life, located next to the Brew.

This is a volunteer leadership opportunity to get involved in The Office of Student Life, and can lead to paid roles. 

The Student Life Programming Board sponsors events such as, bingo, Black Light Dodge Ball, Bert "The Machine" Kreischer, Second City Comedy Troupe, and Larry Yazzie. 

Applications
 

The Student Life Programming Board is the programming hub of the Office of Student Life. The board consists of 14 volunteer leaders who make up seven committees, led by two co-chairs, who specialize in the planning and execution of their category of events.

Committees vary in amount of events planned in a programming year, but each allows for the volunteer leaders to use their creativity and organization skills to plan exciting, engaging, and excellent events for the students of Augustana. 

A position on the Student Life Programming Board expects collaborative efforts and serious dedication for the entirety of the 2019-2020 academic calendar, in addition to training and planning one’s events during spring of 2019. The committees on SLPB are as follows. 

Late Night – Late Night organizes fun and interactive activities for Augustana evenings like Capture the Flag, Archery Tag, Blacklight Dodgeball, and the Drive-In Movie.

Movies – The movies committee purchases the rights to show popular movies to students on Wednesday and Friday nights and seeks to bring the Movie Theatre Experience directly to Augustana students.

Games – This committee responsible for planning large scale game nights in a thrilling and captivating environment. The games committee plans events such as Bingo and Trivia Nights.

Comedy Club – Comedy Club hires up-and-coming comedians to perform at Augustana for weekend entertainment, providing a laughable and welcoming evening for students. In past years, this group has brought you Eric O’Shea, Bert “The Machine” Kreischer, and Pete Lee.

Special Events – The Special Events Committee brings exciting and nontraditional acts to campus, like Hypnotist Dale K, Danger Circus, and the Second City Comedy Troupe. 

Excursions – Excursions plans captivating getaways in the Quad Cities and beyond to give students easy access to exciting events such as Chicago Cubs games and Six Flags trips.

Live on Campus – Live on Campus offers Augustana a variety of musicians and poets for intimate and thought provoking live performances throughout the week. 

Spirit – The Spirit Committee is affectionately titled The Vike Squad. The Vike Squad partners with varsity athletic teams to plan events centered around student engagement and school spirit.
