Eichstätt: Summer German

Overview

The Summer German program at Catholic University in Eichstätt, Germany is a program recommended by Augustana’s German Studies program but not affiliated with or managed by Augustana College.  It is a month-long immersion program for which students can earn up to 6 transfer credits in German Studies and is appropriate for students of German Studies as well as any student who wishes to develop language skills in German.

Students enroll directly at KUEI (Katholische Universitat Eichstätt-Ingolstadt) and credit is transferred back to Augustana. Students must earn the equivalent of a C or higher in each course at KUEI in order to transfer these credits back to Augustana.

The program offers coursework in Beginning (100), Intermediate (200) and Advanced German (300). The program cost is typically in a range of $1,100-$1,500 and includes housing on the campus of KUEI.  The program fee does not include airfare, transportation to Eichstätt from your arrival airport, or most meals.

Students interested in this program follow the following process:

  1. Consult with an advisor from the German Studies Program (Dr. Seidlitz is recommended)
  2. Enroll directly at the KUEI website
  3. Upon acceptance to KUEI’s summer program, notify the Office of International & Off-Campus Programs for assistance with required course transfer and travel documents.
