New student checklist

This checklist will help you take all the necessary steps to get ready to attend Augustana.

These items apply to all incoming first-year and transfer students as noted.

✈ International students have a few additional tasks.

Communicate

❑ Notify other colleges of your decision to attend Augustana.

❑ Join the Facebook student group for the Augustana College Class of 2026.

❑ Check out our Augustana Bound Instagram

❑ Parents or guardians, join the Augustana College Parents on Facebook.

Advising and registration

❑  Complete the steps required for Advising and Registration. You’ll need your student ID number, provided to you in an email from Admissions.

❑ Learn more about the classes you’ll take during your first semester and year:

Major requirements

❑ Continue to watch your @Augustana email. If we have questions for you, we will contact you at this email.

❑ Do not drop courses in Arches after you are registered for the spring semester. If changes are necessary, an advisor will help you before classes begin.

Housing, dining and parking

❑ Find out more about living on campus and what to bring with you! 

❑ Submit your housing application online before December 20 at housing.augustana.edu.

Pay housing deposit by December 20.

❑ For special medical accommodations in housing, submit your housing application, request for accommodations and medical documentation by the priority deadline of December 20.

❑ You will choose a meal plan at the same time you sign up for housing. (You can change your meal plan, if needed, after you get to campus.)

❑ You will receive more information about parking after you receive your housing assignment in early January.

❑  Submit a passport-style photo for your official Augustana ID Card.

Records

❑ Request final, official transcripts from high schools and colleges attended, due (date). 

Augustana will accept hard-copy transcripts mailed directly to Admissions from the sending institution or sent through Scrip-Safe or National Student Clearinghouse. See information about transcripts.

❑ Request Advanced Placement  (AP) scores and International Baccalaureate (IB) and A-Level scores to be sent to Augustana by (date).

Submit your immunization records (including COVID vaccination information) online by January 5, 2022. 

❑ Submit requests for special accommodations in the classroom, if needed.

❑ Complete Safety and Well-being Modules prior to your arrival on campus. Details will be provided through your Augustana email account.

❑ Complete the Diversity, Equity and Inclusion training. Watch your email for details.

❑ Submit an insurance waiver by Friday, February 11 if you do not want coverage through the Augustana Student Accident and Sickness Insurance Plan. ✈ Here are options for international students.

Financial aid

❑ Sign and return your Financial Aid Award notification either accepting or rejecting each award.

❑ If requested, submit all forms and documents to the Office of Financial Aid to complete the federal verification process.

❑ Notify the Office of Financial Aid of all outside awards you have received by sending a copy of your notification letter from the organization.

❑ If you are eligible and plan to borrow a Federal Direct Loan, and have not already done so, complete the Loan Agreement for Direct Subsidized/Unsubsidized Loan (MPN), Loan Entrance Counseling and the annual Student Loan Acknowledgement.

These three documents can be completed at studentaid.gov. Instructions were included in your award notification labeled "Federal Direct Loan." 

Athletes

❑ Athletes (in NCAA sports) must complete the Student Athlete Sports Medicine form as soon as possible.

Spring Welcome

Order your textbooks online or buy them in the Augustana Bookstore during the Spring Welcome.

❑ Bring the following items when you arrive on campus in the fall:

❑ Move on to campus on January 30. (International students can move in on January 27.)

❑ Attend the Spring Welcome on January 31 and February 1. International students also attend International Student Orientation (ISO) prior to the Spring Welcome.
