New student fall checklist
This checklist will help you take all the necessary steps to get ready to attend Augustana in the fall.
These items apply to all incoming first-year and transfer students as noted. International students have a few additional tasks.
❑ Notify other colleges of your decision to attend Augustana
❑ Join the Facebook student group for the Augustana College Class of 2024.
❑ Check out our Augustana Bound Instagram.
❑ Parents or guardians, join the Augustana College Parents on Facebook.
Orientation and Registration
❑ Complete the steps required for Orientation and Registration here. You’ll need your student ID number, provided to you in an email from Admissions.
❑ Continue to watch your email and the Orientation website for more information about your next steps for the summer.
❑ To prepare for your next steps, visit the links below to learn more about the classes you’ll take during your first semester and year:
❑ Do not drop courses on Arches after you are registered for the fall semester. If changes are necessary, your advisor will help you make them when you meet during Welcome Week.
Housing, dining and parking
❑ Learn about the Residential Learning Experience and how to apply.
❑ Submit your housing application online starting May 1 at housing.augustana.edu.
❑ For special accommodations in housing, submit your housing application, request for accommodations and medical documentation by the priority deadline June 30.
❑ You will choose a meal at the same time as you sign up for housing. (You can change your meal plan, if needed, after you get to campus.)
❑ You will receive more information about parking after you receive your housing assignment in mid-July.
❑ Attend the Residential Life Open House on Saturday, Aug. 15 from 10 a.m.-noon to see your room and possibly meet your roommate(s).
❑ Submit a passport-style photo for your official Augustana ID Card.
❑ Request final, official transcripts from high schools and colleges attended, due July 1. Augustana will accept hard-copy transcripts mailed directly to Admissions from the sending institution or sent through Scrip-Safe or National Student Clearinghouse. See information about transcripts.
❑ Submit your immunization records online by July 1. You also can turn in the forms when you attend Orientation and Registration.
❑ Submit requests for special accommodations in the classroom by July 15, if possible.
❑ Complete "AlcoholEdu" starting in July. Details will be provided to students through their Augustana email accounts.
❑ Complete the Diversity, Equity and Inclusion training. Watch your student email for details.
❑ Sign and return your Financial Aid Award Notification either accepting or rejecting each award.
❑ If requested, submit all forms and documents to the Office of Financial Aid to complete the federal verification process.
❑ Notify the Office of Financial Aid of all outside awards you have received by sending a copy of your notification letter from the organization.
❑ If you are eligible for a Federal Direct Loan, and have not already done so, complete the Loan Agreement for Direct Subsidized/Unsubsidized Loan (MPN) and Entrance Counseling if you plan to borrow a Federal Direct Loan. Instructions were included in your award notification labeled "Federal Direct Loan." Additional instructions also will be mailed in late May.
❑ Athletes (in NCAA sports) must complete the Student Athlete Sports Medicine form by Aug. 1.
❑ Fall sports student-athletes should confirm move-in dates with their Head Coach. Fall sports include men's and women's cross country, football, men's and women's golf, men's and women's soccer, women's tennis and women's volleyball.
❑ Order your textbooks online before Welcome Week or buy them in the Augustana Bookstore during Welcome Week.
❑ Bring the following items when you arrive on campus in the fall:
- Three employment documents
- The following to validate the above I-9, Employment Eligibility Verification form:
- A valid, unexpired passport OR
- A valid, unexpired driver's license or State photo ID and one of the following:
- Your original Social Security Card
- Your original or certified copy of your birth certificate
- Other acceptable documents to validate the I-9 (if you do not have the items detailed to validate the I-9)
❑ The PACE Multicultural Mentorship Program begins Sunday, Aug. 23.
❑ International Student Orientation begins Monday, Aug. 24.
❑ Other students move in Aug. 26-27.
❑ Attend Welcome Week from Thursday, Aug. 27-Sunday, Aug. 30.
❑ Pick up your Welcome Week folder any time from 9 a.m.-noon on Thursday, Aug. 27, at the Gerber Center, Gävle rooms.
❑ First-year students should complete the Augie Reads assignment before classes start on Monday, Aug. 31.
