DESCRIPTION:Grace Kyung\, MPH\, MUP will be the keynote speaker during Public Health Week. The event is hosted by Augustana's Public Health Program and Department of Geography.\n\nSt. Louis is divided by systemic racism and economic and social inequities that have grown rather than being rooted out over the years. Grace’s work focuses on breaking down these barriers by harnessing the city’s assets and understanding the role of transportation planning in community development. She develops tools and processes for inclusive\, collaborative planning to create healthy communities by using data and people’s lived experiences. She is a leader in creating a process whereby decisions are made through the lens of racial equity and in providing an opportunity for true progress rather than perpetuating the status quo. Come learn about the intersection of Public Health and Urban Planning from a young professional in the field.\n\nNational Public Health Week Events\n\nApril 3 - 6&nbsp\;&nbsp\;11a.m. - 1p.m.&nbsp\;The Brew\nPublic Health Week tables in the Brew:&nbsp\;Stop by and chat with PUBH majors and ACHOO student members about health outreach in the Augustana and Quad Cities communities.\n\nApril 3&nbsp\; 4p.m. - 5:30p.m.&nbsp\;Evald Great Hall\nPublic Health Major Declaration: All current and interested PUBH majors and minors are invited to get to know each other\, learn about courses and internship opportunities\, and enjoy some tasty treats.&nbsp\;Current Seniors will be available to answer student-centered questions and share their PUBH experiences.\n\nApril 4&nbsp\; 8a.m. - 4p.m.&nbsp\;Waterfront Convention Center\, Bettendorf\nQuad Cities Disaster Readiness Conference: Speakers from across the country will address disaster preparedness and response\, including active shooter response at Columbine High School\, the opioid epidemic\, and more.
