DESCRIPTION:President Steve Bahls and Dr. Monica Smith\,&nbsp\;vice president of diversity\, equity and inclusion\, will hold a forum to discuss news about DACA (Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals).\n\nThe forum will run from&nbsp\;3:30-5 p.m.\n\nPresident Bahls will discuss the decision to join about 40 other colleges in filing an amicus curiae brief (also known as a "friend of the court" brief) in the United States Second Circuit Court of Appeals to prevent the revocation of DACA.&nbsp\;\n\nThe president will give an overview of the brief and discuss:\n\n•&nbsp\;&nbsp\; &nbsp\;What the legal case is about.\n•&nbsp\;&nbsp\; &nbsp\;What an amicus curiae brief is and why it can be important.\n•&nbsp\;&nbsp\; &nbsp\;Why he decided that Augustana should join.\n•&nbsp\;&nbsp\; &nbsp\;What criteria he uses in deciding to speak out on matters some consider political.\n\nPresident Bahls and Dr. Smith also will answer questions from the audience.\n&nbsp\;\n
