DESCRIPTION:The Augustana Historical Society will hold its spring meeting on April 12. This year’s program features Dr. Ann Boaden\, a retired member of the Augustana English Department and author of "Light &amp\; Leaven: Women Who Shaped Augustana's First Century."\n\nPublished as part of the college’s sesquicentennial in 2010\, Boaden's book brings to the fore women whose names can be found on buildings across the Rock Island campus\, including Henriette Naeseth\, Dorothy Parkander\, Betsey Brodahl and Emmy Evald\, whose name adorns the 1928 structure in which the presentation will be held.\n\nThe Augustana Historical Society\, founded in 1930\, exists to preserve the history of Augustana College\, and its relationship to Swedish-American immigration and culture. Its annual spring program is open to members and nonmembers alike\, free of charge.\n
