DESCRIPTION:Dr. Jennifer Burnham\, professor of geography and director of the Augustana Center for Polar Studies\, will present "From Augie to the Arctic: Tales from a Scientist Mother." This public lecture celebrates her appointment as the Edward Hamming Chair in Geography\, honoring founder Edward Hamming’s legacy of scholarship\, teaching\, and mentorship at Augustana College.Dr. Burnham is a Professor of Environment\, Geography\, and Geoscience\, Director of the Augustana Center for Polar Studies\, and former inaugural Dean of the STEM Division. An alumna of Augustana College\, she earned her Ph.D. in Earth and Space Sciences from the University of Washington and is an internationally recognized scholar of Arctic environments\, geomorphology\, and avian ecology. Her work\, much of it conducted in northwest Greenland\, exemplifies the integration of outstanding scholarship\, dedicated teaching\, and sustained service.
