Augie Sweethearts: Selena Gonzalez '16 and Jonathan Tapia '14

It was a Monday night during my first week at Augustana College. My friends had invited me to join them to a Latinos Unidos meeting that evening so that I could get to know more people. During the meeting we were introduced to the executive board, which included Jonathan Tapia. A couple of days later, I attended a gathering on campus where I was then personally introduced to Jon through some of his DON Brothers and our Latinos Unidos family.

After several weeks of getting to know each other, we became Jon and Selena. Who knew that our kiss under the Bell Tower gave us good luck for many years to come? Five and a half years later, we are engaged and set to be married at the Ascension Chapel on Augustana’s campus in October 2019. Joining us as part of our wedding party, will be our DON and Latinos Unidos family!
