Augie Sweethearts: Rhoda and Bruce Krans, Class of 1961

Bruce and I met as juniors. I had transferred from a JC in Michigan. We were both music majors, and I like to say we met around Mad Mac's organ. He thought I went out with him because he had a car -- it was really because he bought me a hamburger at Benders where the burgers were 30 cents, and on Sunday nights they didn't serve anything to eat at Augie. I was a poor kid and a free hamburger was a lot.

We went to all the concerts together and everything else that was free; we hung around for coffee. In our senior year, I visited him for Christmas and was a June bride five days after graduation, and here it is 2018, and we're still married with two daughters (one daughter, Heather was also an Augie grad). We also have one granddaughter, not an Augie grad she graduated from Portland State. We both remember so many good times at Augustana.
