Augie Sweethearts: David Nord and Julie Lundt, Class of 1984

Carlsson (then a men’s dormitory) had a party at Andreen’s basement for incoming freshman. Standing against the wall with the other guys; I spotted a girl at a table for four with two of her friends (wow!)...and an open chair! I asked if I could join them. Best move I ever made.

After dating the better part of three years, graduation was on the horizon. I needed to find a job on campus to pay for an engagement ring. I met with Dean Betsy to see if she had any open jobs… nope. After explaining my situation; she took out her personal check book and asked how much I needed to pay for the ring. She gave an interest free loan to some student she had only met a few times.

33 years and two children later, the charm of my Augie girl is very much still there. Best part of my Augustana experience!
