Masterworks VI: St. Matthew Passion

The Augustana Choir joins the Quad City Symphony and Quad City Choral Arts to perform the St. Matthew Passion, a work widely regarded as one of the masterpieces of classical sacred music.  This sacred oratorio composed by Johann Sebastian Bach in 1727 for solo voices, double choir and double orchestra sets chapters 26 and 27 of the Gospel of Matthew in text written by Picander (Christian Friedrich Henrici). The St. Matthew Passion will be performed in English. 

Performances will be Saturday, April 8 at 7:30 PM (please note the time change) at the Adler Theatre in Davenport, Iowa and Sunday, April 9 at 2:00 p.m. in Centennial Hall. All tickets for this concert will be sold through the Quad City Symphony Box Office.
