Hispanic Film canceled
Presentation of "La Novia" (The Bride) as the fourth film in the Hispanic Film Festival has been canceled due to extreme weather.
The festival runs Jan. 9-Feb. 6. Films are screened at 7 p.m. Wednesdays in the Hanson Hall of Science auditorium, Room 102.
The Feb. 6 film is "Una Mujer Fantástica" (A Fantastic Woman). This 2017 drama was selected as the Chilean entry for the Best Foreign Language Film, where it won in the 90th Academy Awards. A young transgender woman loses her older boyfriend to a brain aneurysm, and then encounters suspicion and hostility from his family and the authorities while she tries to grieve.
Rated R, the film runs one hour, 40 minutes.
Films are free and open to the public.
