American Scandinavian Association film: 'The Ox'
The American Scandinavian Association will show the historical drama “The Ox” at 4:30 p.m. April 4 at the Swenson Swedish Immigration Center at Augustana College. Seating is limited to this free screening. RSVPs should be emailed to Jill Seaholm.
“The Ox” is a 92-minute film about the harsh realities of life in 1860s Småland, Sweden.
“Based on an actual incident, “The Ox” is set during a period of terrible drought that drove many Swedes to find new lives in the American Midwest, but it is not a story of why people left...but instead an homage to those who, whether by choice or not, stayed and persevered,” said the Los Angeles Times.
Parking for visitors is available along 7th Avenue or in Lot E near Centennial Hall.
