Opera: 'Karkinos'
Professor Jacob Bancks' opera "Karkinos" will be performed by the Quad City Symphony Orchestra, in conjunction with the Living Proof Exhibit.
This multi-media work features chamber orchestra, vocal soloists and choir. It depicts the story of a beautiful empress who is forced into battle with the unseen monster Karkinos the night before her coronation.
Living Proof Exhibit will host a small art exhibition before and after the performance in the lobby featuring the works of a range of LPE artists. There will be a pre-performance talk at 6:30 p.m.
"Karkinos" was co-commissioned by Living Proof Exhibit and inspired by more than 30 in-person interviews with people whose lives have been impacted by cancer.
