Each fall semester, Augustana devotes a day to an alternative, multidisciplinary approach to learning. These Symposium Days include invited speakers, faculty, students and alumni.

About the theme

• How do people constructively engage with others who have differing viewpoints on important topics?

• How do they engage in respectful discussions?

• With so much intense dispute about sources of information, how do they find common ground and what are the relevant standards of expertise? 

• How do they avoid echo chambers to find broader perspectives? 

• How do they maintain an open mind?
