Transgender Day of Remembrance

Christina King, Miss Nationwide 2022, will be the keynote speaker at the Transgender Day of Remembrance. Her talk will begin at 7 p.m.

At 6 p.m., members of the Augustana Gender and Sexuality Alliance will read the names of transgender people who lost their lives to violence this year.

King, who was crowned Miss Trans Illinois in 2020, lives in Galesburg, Ill. King serves on the board of the Galesburg Community Relations Commission and the Knox County Health Board where she advises several medical providers on issues and the need of the LGBTQIA+ community.

The Transgender Day of Remembrance, also known as the International Transgender Day of Remembrance, has been observed annually in November to memorialize those who have been murdered as a result of transphobia.
