Quad Cities Yom HaShoah Holocaust Remembrance
Join us for a powerful and moving Yom HaShoah (Holocaust Remembrance Day) Observance, honoring the resilience and legacy of Holocaust survivors. Holocaust survivor, author and speaker Marion Blumenthal Lazan will present, and the winners of the student Holocaust essay and visual arts contests will be recognized. This program is free and open to the public.
This event is presented by Yom Hashoah Committee of the Quad Cities, Jewish Federation of the Quad Cities, Temple Emanuel, Congregation Beth Israel, Churches United, Augustana College, St. Ambrose University and Eastern Iowa Community College.
About the speaker:
Marion Blumenthal Lazan is a Holocaust survivor, author, and speaker, best known for her memoir "Four Perfect Pebbles," which recounts her harrowing experiences during World War II. Born in Germany in 1934, Marion and her family fled to the Netherlands, but they were eventually captured and sent to concentration camps. She survived the war and emigrated to the United States in 1948. Marion has dedicated her life to educating others about the Holocaust and the importance of tolerance, sharing her story through lectures and her writings. Her work emphasizes the resilience of the human spirit and the need to remember history to prevent future atrocities.
