2024 Tredway Library Prize for First-Year Research winners announced
For the first time, the Thomas Tredway Library is pleased to announce two winners of the 2024 Tredway Library Prize for First-Year Research: Alia Barcus and I.H.C.
Both papers creatively navigated complex social issues, balancing their own voices and source-driven data masterfully.
Alia's paper, "No, You Can’t Just Peek in Their Brain to See Their Future," was written for FYH 102: Blame it on the Brain, taught by Dr. Rupa Gordon.
I.H.C.'s paper, "Animals in Prison: Is There Value in Inmate-Animal Rehabilitation?" was written as a longform news article for Professor Farah Marklevits's FYI 102 APEP course.
These dual awards mark the end of the Tredway Library Prize for First-Year Research in its original form. Watch for an announcement this spring about how students' research will be recognized by the library this year and in years to come!
Please join us in congratulating Alia and I.H.C for their excellent work! Both papers will be available in Augustana Digital Commons alongside previous prizewinners, and the full judges’ statement can be read here.
