Augustana group to participate in Welcoming Week

Augustana students, faculty and alumni will participate in Welcoming Week 2020 on Sept. 15 , a national celebration of communities that promote cross-cultural understanding and embrace newcomers.

The program will begin at 4:30 p.m. on Google Meet. All are welcome.

The Augustana group will discuss their experiences with World Relief Quad Cities, a refugee resettlement agency in Moline, Ill. Students will learn about volunteer and internship opportunities to work with the refugee community in the Quad Cities.

Speakers will include Dr. Chris Strunk,,associate professor of geography; Dr. Fatima Sattar, assistant professor of sociology and anthropology;  Xong Sony Yang, director of the Office of International Student and Scholar Services; and Jen Wood, Grace Fitzpatrick and Leah Cox from World Relief.

Welcoming America, a non-profit, non-partisan organization, sponsors Welcoming Week.
