Bildner '13 awarded I.O.W.A. STEM Teacher Award

Earlier this year, Megan Bildner '13, a science teacher at Pleasant Valley High School, was awarded the I.O.W.A. STEM Teacher Award. The award is for teachers who are making a significant difference in the lives of students by inspiring a passion for STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) beyond the classroom and into the future.

"It’s incredible to get a few moments of recognition for the things that go on in our classrooms every single day,” Bildner said.

She credits a large part of her nomination to her work with the 'Women in STEM Club' at Pleasant Valley High School. “We noticed there was a lack of female students involved in the engineering courses and saw that as a place where we could improve," Bildner said.

The club provides female students the opportunities to interact with other female professionals in STEM roles. They also teach STEM related lessons at grade schools throughout the community.
