Conference announces resumption of athletics; no spectators allowed
The College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin has released its schedules for winter sports competition in 2021.
The conference also announced that fall sports schedules — including football, men's and women's soccer and women's volleyball — will be released next week.
The CCIW released schedules for women's and men's basketball, women's and men's indoor track and field, women's and men's swimming and diving, women's bowling and men's wrestling.
Teams in all sports will play a CCIW-only slate. Current protocols prohibit spectators at any event. Augustana will livestream men's volleyball, lacrosse, soccer, women's volleyball and football.
The opening date for basketball, swimming and diving, bowling and wrestling will be Jan. 23.
Track and field competition is scheduled to start Jan. 30.
Regular season play will wrap up in late February for basketball, wrestling and swimming and diving. Bowling and indoor track and field regular seasons will extend into early March.
Augustana schedules for the 2021 winter sports season are tentative. Currently, Augustana's only finalized schedule for a spring sport is men's volleyball.
Competition will begin in late February for women's volleyball and in March for football and men's and women's soccer. A spring cross country meet is being considered as well.
