Anderson '60, chronicler of the nursing profession, dies at 77
Peggy Anderson '60, who never wanted to become a nurse but wrote a best-selling book to correct stereotypes about the profession, died Sunday. Her second book "Nurse" (1978), was on the New York Times best-seller list for 30 weeks and is still in print. "Nurse" was also the basis for a CBS-TV series. Anderson returned to Augustana in 2011 to participate in the River Readings.
2024 Vázquez-Valarezo Poetry Award winners announced
The award is sponsored by Dr. Jeanneth Vázquez, professor of Spanish. Winners receive a small monetary award and a certificate of recognition. The award is named in honor of two educators, the late Honorato Vazquez and the late Angelica Valarezo, writers who worked in the field of education in Ecuador for 35 years. In addition to recognizing excellence, the award is designed to encourage student poets to submit their work for consideration.

Celebration of Learning 2024 showcases research
The annual Celebration of Learning showcases work by students, faculty and staff at Augustana. This year's celebration on May 8 included poster presentations, interactive sessions, an art show, panel presentations and special events.

Delta Chi Theta hosting APEP book drive May 8-15
Delta Chi Theta will organize book donations benefitting the Augustana Prison Education Program from May 8-15. Donations will be used to start an inmate library. New and used books will be accepted.
