Viking Connections: Andy Mau

Andy Mau

Andy Mau is a Certified Financial Planner™ (CFP®) and Founding Partner for Ascend Wealth Planning.

"I'm a huge advocate of networking and learning from others. It is extremely difficult entering the workforce and advancing quickly in your career without the background knowledge on how a particular company/industry works. Needless to say, no one can do it alone. I enjoy providing input from my own experience and the mistakes that I made along the way; and would convey that message to  current/recently graduated Augie students who want to enter the financial field in general.

"I was one of those people who floundered right out of college trying to find the perfect fit in the financial planning field. If I only knew the difference between the companies, I would be years ahead of where I am now. Needless to say, I wish I had something like this back when I was a college senior (or even a under classman) to guide me down the path of how the financial planning business works. I know I would have greatly benefited from an unfiltered mentor outside of my own company's colleagues that could guide me. In this program, I would seek to become the Viking Connection and professional I would have wanted."

Graduation year: 2011

Major: Economics & business administration - finance & international business

Campus activities: Rugby, Delta Omega Nu, Alpha Phi Omega, Business Club, and Relay for Life
