Viking Connections: Justin Choate
Justin Choate is an associate attorney at a general practice law firm. He handles legal matters for clients with a wide variety of needs.
"Augustana College gave me a lot opportunities both professionally and academically while I was a student and I think it's very important to give back to the school and its students to keep a tradition of excellence going. I can provide guidance and advice to students desiring a legal career. I am licensed to practice law in both Illinois and Iowa which is a unique benefit to being an attorney in the Quad Cities. I can answer questions about the LSAT test, educate students on the pros and cons of student loans for higher education, field questions about being an attorney and even take them with me to court or other matters if they wish to have a shadowing opportunity. Additionally, any students that need a mentor who has experience in the political science or history department I can be a resource as well."
Graduation year: 2014
Post-grad: Juris Doctorate, Drake University Law School
Majors: Political Science, History

"Augustana did a lot for me. I didn't understand it at the time. I was not a competitive student and didn't get that great of grades, but I learned my path because of Augustana. I also was exposed to so many different people and different cultures there. I think that by going to Augustana I became a better person. I don't think I would have turned out like I did if I went to a major state school. I made some mistakes while in college, but I learned from them. I
would like to tell students about some of the incredible things that I have seen in the career."
