Mississippi Bend Players: 'Biloxi Blues'
The Mississippi Bend Players will present present Neil Simon's Tony Award winning play, "Biloxi Blues."
The show will be performed June 14-16 and June 21-23. Friday and Saturday performances are at 7:30 p.m. Sunday matinees begin at 2 p.m.
The semi-autobiographical play is the second in a trilogy, following "Brighton Beach Memoirs," which the Players staged in the summer of 2017.
When the audience met Eugene Jerome in "Brighton Beach Memoirs," he was coping with adolescence in 1930s Brooklyn. In "Biloxi Blues" he is a young army recruit during WW II, going through basic training and learning about life and love along with some harsher lessons, at boot camp in Biloxi, Miss.
"Biloxi Blues" is the first of the Mississippi Bend Players 2019 summer series: "The Military Through the Years." It will be followed by "A Green River" July 5-7 and 12-14, and "Dames at Sea" July 26-28 and Aug. 2-4
