Tour: Charles Haag's Art and Archive

Kimberly La Palm and Lisa Huntsha will lead a tour on artworks and archived papers of Charles Haag, a Swedish-American sculptor and woodcarver.

Dr. La Palm teaches Scandinavian studies at Augustana, and Huntsha is a research librarian and archivist at the Swenson Swedish Immigration Research Center.

This collection includes materials related to the artists Charles and Sofia Haag. Charles Haag was best known for his carvings. Sofia Haag was a weaver and textile artist. They emigrated from Sweden separately and met in New York City in 1903.

This collection includes information on their personal and professional lives, including artwork.

Original artwork by the Haags is held at the Augustana College Teaching Museum of Art, American Swedish Institute in Minneapolis, Swedish American Museum in Chicago, Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, and Swedish Historical Museum, Philadelphia.
