Moon Festival

Everyone is invited to celebrate the Moon Festival from 6:30-8:30 p.m., a traditional Chinese festival celebrated by many East and Southeast Asian countries.

Bring blankets or lawn chairs to watch many performances featuring the Wing Chun Society QC martial arts group, UNYK dance troupe, and a movie showing of "Over The Moon."

There will also be traditional moon cakes, fried rice, egg rolls and crab Rangoon.

Sometimes called the Mid-Autumn Festival, it dates back more than 3,000 years, when the emperor of China worshipped the moon for bountiful harvests. Lanterns are carried and displayed as symbols that light people's path to prosperity and good fortune.

The Moon Festival is sponsored by the Asian Student Organization, Vietnamese Student Association and Office of International Student and Scholar Services.
