Opera: 'Karkinos'
Professor Jacob Bancks' opera "Karkinos" with the Quad City Symphony Orchestra, will be rebroadcast on Iowa Public Radio Classical (91.7 FM)
This multi-media work features chamber orchestra, vocal soloists and choir. It depicts the story of a beautiful empress who is forced into battle with the unseen monster Karkinos the night before her coronation.
"Karkinos" was co-commissioned by Living Proof Exhibit and inspired by more than 30 in-person interviews with people whose lives have been impacted by cancer. It was performed live last February.
