Student safe zone training: the coming out continuum

Safe Zone trainings are opportunities to learn about LGBTQ+ identities, gender, and sexuality, and examine prejudice, assumptions, and privilege.

Upon completion of the first session, participants will earn the designation of Safe Zone Ally and will receive a Safe Zone plaque, an Augustana College-specific Safe Zone Manual with helpful information and resources, and a sticker specific to the session they attended to add to their plaque. A list of topics for each session is below.

October 6th: The coming out continuum
November 3rd: LGBTQ+ Terminology
December 1st: Spectrum & Privilege
January 5th: Pronouns
February 2nd: LGBTQ+ Media
March 2nd: -Phobias, -Isms, Prejudice, & Exclusion
April 6th: Campus, Community, & National Resources
(Tuesday) May 2th: Activating Allyship
