Tea Talks: Quad Cities Pride in Memory

Description: While big cities have played an outsized role in the spatial imaginaries of queer communities, academic and popular representations of small towns as oppressive spaces can overlook the presence of thriving and diverse LGBTQ+ communities. In this presentation, we challenge this binary geography of LGBTQ+ identity and communities through a case study of The Quad Cities Project for Pride in Memory, a local oral history collaboration that seeks to preserve the memories of LGBTQ+ Quad City seniors.
