Film: 'Here It's a Bed of Roses'

Join us for the North American premiere of "Here It's a Bed of Roses," the feature fiction debut of Çağlar Çetin-Ayşe, Visiting Assistant Professor of Sociology at Augustana College. The film was screened at various independent film festivals worldwide and won six awards, including Best Film, Best Director, Best Actor and Best Supporting Actress. The campus community is invited to a special screening on Thursday, Nov. 30, at 7 p.m. in the Olin auditorium.

A Q&A will follow the screening. This free event is co-organized by the Departments of Sociology and Anthropology and Theatre and Film at Augustana College.

Synopsis: Kağan, who once dreamt of becoming a writer, lives a lonely life as a business professor. He has not written anything for a long time. An unexpected visit from a friend shakes the foundation of his routinized life. Kağan cannot make sense of why Burçin showed up many years later. He feels there is a secret behind his weird silence. Burçin attempts to motivate Kağan to write again. While constantly resisting these attempts, Kağan begins to have dreams about his desire for Burçin. The tension between the two increases when a woman joins them.
