African American Read-In

The National African American Read-In is a groundbreaking effort to encourage communities to read together, centering African American books and authors. It was established in 1990 by the Black Caucus of the National Council of Teachers of English to make literacy a significant part of Black History Month. This initiative has reached more than 6 million participants around the world.

The annual African American Read-In will be held from 10 a.m.-2 p.m., hosted by the Reading/Writing Center and sponsored by the National Council of Teachers of English.

Students, faculty, and staff are invited to enjoy this celebration of Black literature and music. Stop by to listen or sign up to read/perform a favorite piece by an African American writer. All time slots are 5-10 minutes.
