Disc golf leads back to Haake '74
The Quad-Cities is host to the Professional Disc Golf Association’s Amateur and Junior Disc Golf World Championships. And Dale Haake '74 may be the person to thank.
A Moline attorney, Haake (pronounced hockey) was an avid ball golfer who played at Augustana College under coach Jim Borcherding in the early 1970s.
Living across from Lincoln Park in Rock Island, he created his own object course there and in 1977 launched a 10-year run of hosting his own Mid-August Classic.
