Holocaust survivor to speak at Augustana

Felix Weil, who survived the Holocaust as a young boy, will speak at Augustana College on Monday, May 2, at 7 p.m. in Wallenberg Hall.

Weil is a native of Frankfurt, Germany, where he attended the prestigious Philanthropinschool. During the Holocaust, Weil's family sent him out of Germany on the Kindertransport to save him from the concentration camps, and it was the last time he would ever see them.

After moving to the United States and serving with the occupation forces in Germany, he graduated from Kent State University and has lived in Dayton, Ohio, since 1950. Weil has a wife, Frances, two children and a grandchild, and is retired from the art business.

Before Weil's lecture, student winners of the annual "Responses to the Holocaust" award will be recognized.
