Photos in review: fall 2018 athletics

We congratulate our student-athletes who won various honors and led their teams to victory in the fall of 2018. CCIW Jack Swartz Award winners Karissa Gottardo ’21 (soccer midfielder) and Brandon Wilkerson ’19 (cross country) are two of the players featured here.

Karissa Gottardo — Midfielder Karissa Gottardo ’21 won the CCIW’s Jack Swartz Award for Augustana.

Brandon Wilkerson — Brandon Wilkerson ’19, a Jack Swartz Award winner, was Augustana’s top finisher in all seven meets.

Alex Jacobs — Alek Jacobs ’21 was named DIII Academic All-District for his special teams play.

Xavier Holley — Defensive end Xavier Holley ’20 was voted the Vikings’ Defensive Player of the Year.

Grace Sigler — Defender Grace Sigler ’21 was named to the DIII Academic All-District team—one of just two sophomores on the first team.

Justin Verlinden — Justin Verlinden ’20 is a captain-elect for the 2019 season.

Salah Aghlaf — First-year midfielder Salah Aghlaf’s three game-winning goals tied for the most in the CCIW.

Sander Soerhaug — Defender Sander Soerhaug '21 was named to the All-CCIW second team.

Abby Casey — Abby Casey ’20 was her team’s MVP for the second year in a row.

Mackenzie Renihan — Mackenzie Renihan ’19 was the Vikings’ second finisher at the CCIW Championships.

Melanie Loeffler — Captain Melanie Loeffler ’20 led her team with seven Top 10 finishes.

Caitlyn Schaffer — Caitlyn Schaffer ’19 won her second consecutive CCIW Player of the Year honor.

Annie Timm — Going into the spring season, Annie Timm ’21 is 15-3 in No. 2 singles.

Grace Bialobok — Middle hitter Grace Bialobok ’20 was named co-MVP (again) and named to the All-CCIW first team.

Taryn VanEarwage — Co-MVP Taryn VanEarwage ’19 was named to the All-CCIW second team.
