Augustana Special Collections will display Beard Olympics!,  a study of materials related to facial hair and personal grooming, through May 17.

The exhibit can be seen in the Special Collections reading room from 1-5 p.m. Monday-Thursday when classes are in session. The reading room is on the lower level of the Tredway Library in The Gerber Center.

Viewers will travel back in time to an Augustana at the height of its follicular fortitude and meet some of its most elegantly coiffured early presidents, faculty, and students; “brush up” on the history of Augie's annual Homecoming beard contest; and “comb through” some items of interest related to hairstyles and hair treatments from the Rare Book, Upper Mississippi Valley, and Manuscript Collections.

Special Collections will be closed Feb. 17-March 5,  April 13-17 and May 3.

To inquire about accessing materials outside open hours, email Special Collections.
