Amazon Business Purchases

1. Overview

We are excited to announce that Augustana College has created a central Amazon Business account that will make it easier for you to purchase on Amazon.com. Our goal is to simplify the purchasing process so you can take advantage of the wide selection and competitive prices of the Amazon Business marketplace. 

2. Benefits

Through this central Amazon Business account you will have immediate access to:

• Free Two-Day Shipping on orders over $25 (learn more)
• Pricing and quantity discounts on select items
• Education-tailored search and browse functionality
• Access to a specialized Customer Service team

Everything else you know and love about shopping on Amazon.com will remain the same.

3. How to Join

The Amazon Business Account is to be used for business purposes only and will be tied to your Augustana email address. If you are using your Augustana email address for personal purchases, login to your Amazon account and change the login email address to a personal address (e.g., Gmail or Yahoo) before accepting the invitation to join the Amazon Business account.

Send an email to purchasing@augustana.edu to request access to an Amazon Business Account and follow below instructions:

• Accept invite
• Click Continue
• A login screen with your Augustana email address will appear. Create a password
• Confirm & Continue
• A pop up box in regards to account use for business only — click Confirm & Continue
• Complete
• The last screen will confirm your account set up and is ready for use.

Always look for items sold by other sellers (example).

Amazon Warehouse Deals
Amazon has a little known section of their site which encompass deals from returns or broken boxes during shipments. They analyze their entire stock and inventory and ones they can't sell as new goes into their Amazon Warehouse Deals section. This is a great place to start looking for items to purchase.

Amazon Outlet
On top of Amazon's warehouse deals, they also have an outlet section.  You can go there and find deep discounts on new items every day.  Those products are all still new and ready for you to purchase and save! You can even pick a category and the amount of savings associated and shop for the products that meet that criteria.

Amazon Coupons
Amazon has an entire coupon section just for those looking for some deals! One click and the savings are yours. If you want to just navigate to the coupon section, you can just go to the Amazon Coupons section and you will be there! Depending on your need, there might be an instant clip coupon waiting for you!

5. Method of Payment

P-Cardholders must utilize their P-Card for Amazon Business purchases. No other payment methods are allowed for Amazon business purchases.

6. Amazon Shipping Information

Free two-day business shipping is available for qualified items with an order total amount of $25 and above. The easiest way to find qualified items is to search for Amazon Prime items.

To invite a member: Enter the name, relationship, email address and birthday in the appropriate fields and click "Send an invite." An invitation message will automatically be sent to the email address you entered. Invited members will need to know the month and day of your birthday to accept your invitation.

To remove a member: Click the "Remove" button next to the name of the person you wish to remove. An email message will automatically be sent to the person you remove.

7. Sales Tax Refunds for Purchases from Third Party Sellers

Purchases from third party sellers may be taxed if the seller has not opted in for tax exemption even if the college is making the purchase through the College's Amazon business account. In the event that an Amazon seller charges sales tax, the department needs to request a refund.

Request a Tax Refund — If you qualify for tax exempt status, you can request a tax refund for products sold by Amazon.com LLC, Amazon Digital Services, Inc., or sold by other sellers and fulfilled by Amazon.Place your order and wait for your shipment confirmation.

Submit your tax exemption documentation for the state to which your items shipped by fax or e-mail in order to receive a refund of any sales tax. For textbooks, include your student ID and class syllabus or applicable tax exemption documentation. The fax number is 206-266-2005. Important please include the following:

• Your order number (17 digits in this format: XXX-XXXXXXX-XXXXXXX).
• E-mail address.
• Acceptable proof of your exempt status (as outlined above).
• The name of the seller who sold the item(s) completed on the exemption documentation.
• The name of the organization that purchased the item(s).
• If sending a fax, mark your fax "Attn: Amazon Tax Exempt".
