Concert Chorale Ensemble

Conductor: Benjamin Holmes 

Rehearsals: Monday, Tuesday and Thursday 4:15-5:15 p.m.

The Augustana Concert Chorale is a mixed ensemble that performs a wide variety of literature from all style periods. Students gain a better understanding and appreciation of choral music through study and performance of a varied repertoire. The group primarily sings at on-campus concerts.  

  • Focus: Choral music
  • Membership requirements: Attend rehearsals regularly, participate in performances
  • Time commitment: One-hour rehearsals Monday, Tuesday, Thursday after classes, occasional performances and rehearsals that come with them
  • How to join: Audition (fall and spring) before the semester begins

Austria study away program connects neuroscience, philosophy and culture

Visiting Austria this summer introduced Augustana students to different cultures, foods and ways of life while broadening their understanding of neuroscience and philosophy. Augustana is ranked No. 15 nationally among baccalaureate institutions for participation in short-term study abroad programs.

Augustana Symphonic Band to tour the Midwest in March

The Augustana Symphonic Band, directed by Dr. James Lambrecht, will bring performances to communities across Illinois and Wisconsin March 20-26. 

Augustana's Shockingly Modern Saxophone Festival set for Feb. 21

Augustana College will host its annual Shockingly Modern Saxophone Festival on Feb. 21. The event, featuring guest artists John Sampen and Mark Bunce, will be held at Bergendoff Hall, located at 3701 7th Ave. All events are free and open to the public.

Faculty recital: Xiaoyu Liu, low brass

Iris Xiaoyu Liu is a bass trombonist and serves as instructor of low brass at Augustana College, where she teaches brass methods, low brass choir, and applied low brass.
