Katherine Brown

Assistant Professor of Communication Sciences and Disorders

Katherine (Katie) Brown is a speech-language pathologist and certified brain injury specialist. Her research and published scholarship focus on cognition and motor speech in individuals with neurogenic communication disorders. She recently defended her doctoral dissertation examining the relationship between speech, motor profile and cognition in individuals with Parkinson’s disease.

In addition, Brown is a military spouse and Pat Tillman Scholar with an interest in advocacy and overcoming stigma related to brain injury. Her family used to live in this area, and she is thrilled to finally call the Quad Cities home. Brown and her husband have two children, a dog, a cat and a horse. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her family, baking and exploring the local community.
